This Is 60: Happy Birthday Barry

It's time to Break It Down!

Thirteen years ago, Barack Obama was a newly turned 47-year-old candidate for President of the United States. By this time in 2008, he’d overcome the made-up controversy of Spiritual Advisor Jeremiah Wright’s statements, as well as his own rhetorical faux pas, in which he described a group of people thusly, “They get bitter, they cling to guns or religion or antipathy to people who aren’t like them or anti-immigrant or anti-trade sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations.”  A little over three weeks later he went on to receive and accept the Democratic nomination. Three months later to the day, he won the Presidency.

The rest is history. He went on to serve two terms as the 44th President of the United States of America. The truth is, it’s been only just over four and a half years and some change since he left office. It seems like so much longer…and I know you know what I mean.

This post is not a coda on Barack Obama's tenure. He has released a 768-page memoir entitled, A Promised Land.” Check it out, if you want the tea. This is just a well-deserved greeting; an homage to 44 on his 60th revolution around the sun. This Is 60: Happy Birthday Barry!
